Key take-aways SAP TechEd 2015

SAP TechEd 2015 Barcelona was vibrant and inspiring with thrilling key-notes from Steve Lucas and Björn Goerke. Storytelling has conquered SAP as well! So, what were the highlights for IT Managers and SAP Enterprise Architects?

Central theme for SAP TechEd 2015 was – surprisingly – Digital Business. SAP S/HANA Enterprise Management was introduced and covers the Suite as we knew it plus the various acquired Cloud-based systems. It can be regarded as the ‘Digital Core’ for any organization.

S/4HANA remains to be available as an on-prem solution and can also be run out of the cloud. The S/4HANA roadmap however is different for on-prem and cloud editions. On-prem will have yearly release whereas the cloud edition will know quarterly release The current S/4HANA release is 1511 which stands for year and month of release.

SAP HANA Cloud Platform (HCP) is maturing as a full-fledged development platform to enable Digital Business initiatives and includes e.g. Cloud for Analytics. SAP NetWeaver 7.5 will soon be available and provides further optimizations for HANA.

BUILD was presented as a tool makes it easy to create interactive prototypes for Digital Business initiatives. It’s an open source, collaborative design tool makes it easy for anyone to create interactive prototypes, get feedback from users and jumpstart development without writing a line of code.

SAP Activate as a simple, modular and agile methodology succeeds ASAP and SAP Launch. It features Best Practices and Guided Configuration and is included in SAP licenses, no additional charges.
